A few months ago I did an unpaid gig for a local boutique and received coupons for alternative medicine health care in exchange. While many of the other models refused to try the coupons, I kept an open mind and took advantage of the complementary and alternative medicine.

What is alternative medicine?

The definition for alternative medicine is pretty self explanatory. It's certainly outside of conventional medicine. Instead of going to your local pharmacy or family doctor, you’re visiting an alternative medicine doctor to receive treatment that's natural and/or preventative.

I have wanted to dabble in alternative medicine health care for some time because I began losing faith in conventional medicine. With a parent working within the medical field, I've gotten an insider's point of view on doctors and pharmacies. I learned that pharmacies pay doctors to refer patients to them. In my moral compass, this is completely unethical; however, society has a different perspective on the relationships between doctors and pharmaceutical corporations.

The alternative medicine health care I received was acupressure. I decided to go a step further and specially requested acupuncture. This alternative medicine health care was a positive experience. Contrary to popular belief, the needles were not painful and for days after, I felt more positive and rejuvenated from alternative medicine health care.

I am definitely looking forward to visiting again and experiencing other outlets of alternative medicine.
