Many US Veterans Hospitals are turning toward alternative medicine therapies across the country to treat war veterans. When conventional and mainstream medicine cannot explain certain symptoms and ailments, alternative medicine treatments are used. Nontraditional practices such as hypnosis, acupuncture, meditation, biofeedback and even native healing ceremonies have now become common practice among the Department of Veterans Affairs medical facilities. Dr. Stephan Ezeji-Okoye head of the VA Field Advisory Committee on Complementary and Alternative Medicine says, "alternative medicine is an area of intense interest among the general population and veterans are no exception." Also noted is about 84% of veterans hospital nationwide are now offering alternative medicine treatments.
