It used to be so difficult to find an alternative medicine doctor, but now that the AMA is looking into the value of alternative medicine health care and the efficacy of certain treatments, and medical schools are adopting some of the treatments, it is getting easier. The AMA is finding that alternative medicine has legitimate value for some treatments like acupuncture and massage, as well as herbal treatments for some diseases, and as a consequence, finding an alternative medicine doctor is easier, since they can learn some of these techniques in medical school.

Now that complementary and alternative medicine are offered more often, major medical treatments can be avoided in some cases, like surgery. At one time I had a large lipoma on my back, and my massage therapist was also a healer, who worked for a while on the fatty deposit. We spent some time each session trying to get the tumor to shrink, but it was too big, and I eventually had to have surgery to get rid of it, much to my dismay, since the nerve damage the surgery created has been with me ever since.
